Learn the language behind games, browsers and AI engines: from your first program to real object-oriented applications.

C++ powers the software that must be fast and big: game engines like Unreal, the Chrome and Firefox browsers, Photoshop and Office, databases, the cores of PyTorch and TensorFlow, trading systems, robots, cars and spacecraft. It gives you the speed of the machine with powerful abstractions, and it teaches you how memory really works, which makes you a better developer in every language. This beginner course, in modern C++17 with a touch of C++20, starts from zero (no C needed): install GCC and VS Code, write and compile your first programs, use variables, operators, input and output, decisions, loops and functions (by value and by reference, overloading, header files), then std::string, arrays and std::vector. You understand references, pointers, the stack and the heap, why manual memory is risky and how RAII and smart pointers fix it. Then you design with structs, enum class, namespaces and classes: constructors, destructors, encapsulation, inheritance, virtual functions, abstract classes and composition, and you handle errors with exceptions. All along, you build Overdue, the system of a 24-hour library (and its keyboard-walking cat), until it becomes a complete multi-file application. Every lesson has a main video, a "more examples & common pitfalls" video, a quiz after each video and a hands-on lab, with full solutions to compare.
